This policy explains how the Boardwalk Showroom app ("the app") handles information. The app is published by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("Boardwalk", "we", "us"), [COMPANY ADDRESS], Philippines.
Boardwalk Showroom is a business tool for Boardwalk branches and partners. It downloads websites built with the Boardwalk Site Editor onto a tablet so they can be shown to customers, including without an internet connection.
1. Information the app handles
a. Site Editor sign-in (optional)
If you sign in with a Boardwalk Site Editor account, your username and password are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to Boardwalk's Site Editor to check them. Your password is not stored on the device. The app keeps a sign-in token and your display name on the device so you stay signed in, until you sign out.
b. Information customers enter into website forms
The websites shown in the app may contain forms, such as inquiry or contact forms. Anything a customer types into these forms (for example name, email address, phone number and message) is sent to Boardwalk's servers and handled by Boardwalk and the site owner, the same as on the public website. If the tablet is offline, the form is kept on the tablet and sent automatically once it is back online.
c. Camera and pictures (QR codes)
The app uses the camera only to scan a website's QR code. You can also choose a picture of a QR code from the device. The code is read on the device. Camera images and chosen pictures are not stored by the app and are not sent to Boardwalk.
QR scanning uses Google's ML Kit, which runs on the device. ML Kit may send Google limited technical information, such as device model, operating system version and performance statistics, to maintain and improve the service. It does not send the camera images. See Google's ML Kit terms.
d. Information stored on the device
To work offline, the app stores the following in the app's private storage on the tablet:
- the downloaded websites, including pictures, prices and product information;
- the list of websites added to the tablet;
- the app's settings (for example auto sync and kiosk mode);
- a scrambled (hashed) copy of the tablet's kiosk PIN, never the PIN itself.
e. Connections to Boardwalk's servers
To check for and download website updates, the app contacts Boardwalk's Site Editor (sites.boardwalk.com.ph, or the server a website was added from). These requests include the identifier of the website being updated and, when signed in, the sign-in token. They do not include personal information about customers.
2. What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics tracking.
- No selling of personal information.
- No access to contacts, location, microphone, or files other than a picture you choose for a QR code.
3. How information is used
Information is used only to provide the app's features:
- signing in to list your websites and request fresh website versions;
- keeping websites up to date on the tablet;
- delivering customer inquiries submitted through website forms to Boardwalk and the site owner.
4. Sharing
Form submissions are shared with the Boardwalk business unit or dealer that owns the website. Beyond that, we do not share information with third parties except where required by law, or with service providers that host Boardwalk's systems under confidentiality obligations.
5. Security
Data between the app and Boardwalk's servers is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on the tablet is kept in the app's private storage. The kiosk PIN is stored only as a hash.
6. Keeping and deleting information
- On the tablet: removing a website, using Settings › Remove all websites, signing out, or uninstalling the app deletes the information the app stored on that tablet. Forms not yet sent are deleted too.
- On Boardwalk's servers: form submissions are kept for as long as Boardwalk needs them to respond to the customer and to meet legal requirements. To ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your information, contact us (section 8).
7. Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed, to access, to object, to correct, to erase or block, to data portability, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
